voormalige begraafplaats van een van Portugal's de grootste Fadista's

Amalia Rodriques ( 23 juli 1920 - 6 oktober 1999).

Duizenden waren aanwezig tijdens de uittocht van de grande dame.

Het volk was het er niet mee eens dat Amalia in een muur werd gestopt als laatste rustplaats. 

Haar vriendin kwam dagelijks het graf verzorgen tot in juli 2001.

Op aandringen van haar aanhangers bij het Portugese parlement is het stoffelijk overschot  overgebracht naar Panteão Nacional in het hart van het Alfama district in Lisbon.

Amalia Rodriques (July 23, 1920 – October 6, 1999).

Thousands attended the grande dame's exodus.

The people did not agree that Amalia was put in a wall as a final resting place.

Her friend came daily to tend the grave until July 2001.

At the urging of her supporters at the Portuguese parliament, the remains have been transferred to Panteão Nacional in the heart of Lisbon's Alfama district.
